Sycomp teamed with Druva and Horizon3 to sponsor a special cybersecurity summit in conjunction with the recent AWS Reinforce event. The event was held on June 17, with a focus on real world security issues, use cases and practical solutions. More than 35 attendees, including CISOs and Directors of Security and IT, had the opportunity to chime in, share experiences, and discuss impacts to their businesses.
Ryan Storbeck, Sycomp Global Account Executive, led a lively panel discussion featuring:
- Jim Beers, Director of Information Security at Moravian University
- Joshua Knox, Senior Channel Sales Engineer at Horizon3
- Marco Anthony, Senior Sales Engineer at Druva
- Herold Prophete, Security Solutions Practice Leader at Sycomp
The panelists had the opportunity to discuss and share key cybersecurity trends, the current security landscape, the shortage of IT security skills, cloud security, AI adoption, and specific use cases and success stories.
Specifically, Jim Beers talked about the impacts security has on universities, how he and his team had to adapt new security defenses, and the adoption of AI and how to mitigate risks and challenges. He shared how Horizon3 worked with Moravian University to strengthen its overall security program.
Marco Anthony from Druva talked about data security and multi-cloud environments, and how organizations can address challenges associated with complex IT environments as well as IT security and back up solutions. Josh Knox from Horizon3 shared valuable insights on emerging AI powered threats, cloud security challenges, and the growing importance of penetration testing (pen testing). While many companies conduct pen testing only annually, today’s rapidly shifting threat landscape requires routine, frequent testing to stay ahead of attackers and uncover vulnerabilities before malicious actors do.
Herold Prophete shared practical ways on how organizations of all sizes can shift from a reactive security model to an offense-driven security approach, and highlighted how Sycomp helps other customers building security solutions including application, data, network, identity and access management, endpoint and infrastructure management, and cloud security.
Following the panel discussion, attendees had the opportunity to continue the dialogue, sharing their experiences, and walking with practical advice and next steps.
